Vintage Message Board

A custom magnetic message board is a great way to organize all those frequently needed items you need to keep handy.  I found a antique wood window frame on one of my salvage yard trips, and decided to create a fabric covered magnet board and fun magnets.  First I scraped down the window frame and took out the glass. Primed white ( to cover if lead based paint was used), painted white, and the a medium sage green, then distressed it a bit to show the white paint through with an electric sander.

Next, my husband cut a piece of galvanized metal to size. I then sprayed with fabric safe adhesive, and applied a fun bird fabric to it. Tacked it in place with small nails that were pre-drilled first. I put the hardware latch back on and added hangers to the back. Here is the final project.....
Message Boards are great for photographs, calendars, children's schedules, to-do-lists, reminders of special events or appointments, and for words of daily inspiration. Message boards work nicely in and entryway, laundry, or home office. It is easy to change things out too - with the use of magnets. I then made some magnets using fun papers that coordinated with the colors to complete the message board. January is a great time of year to get rid of clutter and get organized, and this is a step in the right direction. Stay tuned for more on getting organized as I am putting together some tips on how to just that.... Until next time hope you enjoyed this idea.
